Are you Shaken, Anxious, Depressed or Overwhelmed After Some Life Changing Event?

When Life Feels Like It’s Falling Apart, You’re Not Alone.
Welcome to a place of support, safety, and healing.

If you’re here right now, it’s probably not by accident. Something brought you here — maybe a quiet, persistent ache that won’t disappear. Maybe a relationship ended, or someone you love is gone. Maybe you’re waking up daily feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or lost. Maybe you’ve been carrying pain for so long that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to live without it.

You might not know what you need. You might see that you can’t keep going like this. That something has to change.

And that is more than enough. It’s a beginning.

Barbara Fane, LCSW, BCD offers therapy in Monmouth County, NJ and surrounding areas for grief, anxiety, depression, LGBT issues, abuse, postpartum depression

Where grief is honored, and healing is possible.

For more than 25 years, I’ve helped people navigate the painful, confusing, and often isolating seasons of life — the ones that leave you feeling like the person you used to be is gone and the road ahead is uncertain.

In our work together, I’ll walk beside you as we explore your story — with no judgment, rush, or pressure to be anything other than who you are.

Therapy is not about fixing you – it’s about understanding and honoring your unique experiences and emotions and empowering you to discover ways of moving forward.

Therapy is about slowing down enough to finally listen to what your mind and body have been trying to tell you. It’s about making room for the messy, complicated, beautiful healing process. And it’s about remembering — or discovering for the first time — that you are worthy of support, peace, and joy.

You Don’t Have to Hold It All Together Anymore

Many clients feel like their world has been turned upside down. They’re smart, capable people — caregivers, professionals, parents, partners — who have reached a point where they can’t keep pretending everything is okay.

Maybe you’re the one everyone else depends on, but now you’re falling apart behind closed doors.

Maybe you’ve experienced a traumatic loss and are grieving — a person, a relationship, a dream, a version of your life that no longer exists.

Maybe anxiety has taken hold, and it’s exhausting just to get through the day.

Something from your past is resurfacing, and you realize it’s time to face what you’ve tried so hard to push away.

Or maybe you’re tired of feeling stuck — repeating the same patterns, fighting the same battles with yourself, wondering if things will ever change.

Here’s the truth:

Whatever you’re carrying, it makes sense. You make sense.

And here, you will be met with compassion, not judgment.

A Safe Space to Be Fully You

My style is warm and collaborative. Together, we will make sense of your pain, and help you find ways to learn to live again.

We’ll move at your pace. There’s no timeline for healing and no expectation that you show up any particular way. Whether you cry, rage, laugh, freeze, or sit quietly — it’s all part of the process. You are welcome here as you are.

What I Help With

Everyone’s story is unique, but here are some of the most common reasons people reach out to me:

  • Grief and Loss: Losing someone you love — or something significant — can shake your foundation. Grief isn’t linear, and there’s no “right way to do it. Whether your loss is recent or years old, we’ll create space for your experience and support your healing at every stage.
  • Anxiety and Overwhelm: Racing thoughts, tension in your body, difficulty sleeping or relaxing — anxiety can take over your life. Together, we can begin to understand the roots of your anxiety and find ways to gently calm your nervous system, so life feels more manageable.
  • Life Transitions: Divorce, retirement, a child leaving home, career changes, or moving to a new place — even positive changes can leave you feeling unmoored. Therapy can help you process the losses, find clarity, and rebuild your sense of self during these uncertain times.
  • Relationship Challenges: Whether you’re facing conflict or are trying to heal from a relational betrayal, our work can help you discover new patterns, create new boundaries, and rebuild your sense of self in the context of your relationships.
  • Childhood Abuse or Emotional Neglect: Sometimes, the pain we carry begins long before we can put it into words. If you’ve experienced emotional neglect, abuse, or trauma in early life, you’ve had to find ways to adapt in order to survive. Early trauma can have a lasting impact on how we see ourselves, others, and the world. Often, what helped us as children, no longer works for us in the present. Together we will understand those coping mechanisms, and work to create new ones.

If you’re hurting, struggling, or stuck, I can help you find your way. And reaching out doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re human. It means you’re brave.

Let’s Begin — Gently

Our first call is just a chance to connect. You can ask questions, share a little about what you’re going through, and see how it feels to talk with me. There’s no pressure — just a quiet place to begin.

When you’re ready, I’m here.

Reach out. Let’s talk.

You’ve carried this alone for long enough.
